I already have a password for my computer. Do I need this? 

Yes, if you have a PC. If someone gains access to your computer, there are many ways to get around your password and access your personal data and communications.

If you have a Mac, you can enable FileVault (a built-in functionality): click the Apple icon on the menu at the top of your screen, select System Preferences, and click the Security & Privacy icon. Click the “Turn On FileVault” option to enable and configure FileVault. built in functionality for Mac.


What is full-disk encryption (FDE)? It sounds complicated. 

It’s actually simple. The objective is to encrypt all of the files and programs on your computer. That way, if it gets stolen, your information is kept private.
